Today's pastel class

Don't think this will be my medium.

First pastel painting

Today at the Rhein Center I participated in a pastel class with Joan Garvarek. Not exactly a keeper, but she told us to hang on to it so that if we continue in this medium we'll be able to see improvement. I sat at a table with a very enthusiatic child and the table was constantly wiggling. Also, there were so many light sources, this gourd had 6 shadows, so I just chose two.

Portrait class 2008

Last summer I took a portrait class, but didn't practice. This year I hope to practice more--with the help of this blog. Today and tomorrow I'm taking "pastel painting," and we'll do a gourd today and a flower tomorrow.

No scanner

I don't have a scanner connected to my laptop, so I'll have to go the digital route. This is the first drawing of the summer. I was sitting on a bench at Hoover Auditorium in Lakeside looking at the tiny, narrow cottage across the street on Walnut. The angle wasn't good. My husband is teaching perspective drawing this week, but no matter how often I take it, I still draw the same old way--I eyeball it. One thing I left out is the For Sale sign in front. No yard to take care of and you could hear all the programs across the street without going out.
